Reasons to stay in Mestre

  • it's relatively easy to get to Mestre by car
  • it's possible to find a place to park the car
  • it's possible to get the luggage out of the car right at the hotel entrance. It is not true for Venice hotels except located in the vicinity of Piazzale Roma - the small part of Venice where cars are allowed.
  • the town is quiet at night

and, in some areas, during the day

  • the prices in the hotels are significantly lower than in Venice
  • there are two ways to get to Venice from Mestre without using your car
    • by bus operated by ACTV from one of the bus stops in Mestre across the Ponte della Libertà bridge to the bus station in Venice located at the Piazzale Roma next to the water buses stops.   • it's not Venice so one has to get to Venice and back
